Unloc

July 15, 2020

Today we started to take Noelle’s dreadlocks down.

It’s a tedious, fantastic task to pull hundreds of thousands of hairs apart, fibers that have been bound together for almost eight years. It takes some moisture, more conditioner, and even more patience.

Locks aren’t supposed to be removed. The process is supposed to be a permanent marriage. A union. A decision to live together. Forever.

But Noelle changed her mind. She wanted a change. And instead of just cutting off the growth, she wanted to teach it to be a new thing. To live a new way.

There are few final decisions. We make very few of them. Choose what you want, change when you want.
